The TEC alone (the only faction currently available to play) has its spacecraft divided into Frigates, Cruisers and Capital Ships. The level of strategic depth in Sins of a Solar Empire is pretty impressive for a game that's still in beta. This also puts a crunch on their ability to harvest resources. They'll need to be more aggressive since they don't have the manpower to defend as many worlds. Their smaller fleet also affects their galactic distribution. The caveat there is that each of their vessels is going to be hideously expensive. The Vasari have the toughest, most powerful ships in the game that also boast impressive stealth capabilities. The Advent have more fragile vessels but make up for it with psionic powers that allow them to launch telepathic assaults on ship crews and even entire planetary populations. The TEC, as traders, can put their hands on a lot more money and production capacity, which allows them to make up for their technological inferiority with greater numbers. Each of the game's three races will be able to produce a variety of spacecraft with their own strengths and weaknesses. It's inside the planet's gravity well where the destiny of the galaxy will be fought out.
